When did Toy Story 5 come to Disney+?
Toy Story 5 arrived on Disney+ on September 23, 2026, a little over three months after it opened in theaters. The film reached home viewing in steps, according to its Wikipedia entry and Disney’s own listings:
- June 19, 2026: US theatrical release
- August 18, 2026: digital purchase
- September 22, 2026: 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD
- September 23, 2026: Disney+ streaming debut
When the digital version launched on August 18, stores charged $29.99 to buy and $24.99 to rent, so older articles quoting those prices are out of date. The purchase price is now $19.99 and there is no rental; if you only want to rent, check the store’s own listing before you pay.
How much does Disney+ cost?
According to the Disney+ US plans page, Disney+ with ads costs $12.49 a month, and Disney+ Premium (no ads) costs $21.49 a month or $214.99 a year. Disney raised both prices for new subscribers on September 23, 2026, the same day Toy Story 5 arrived, and existing subscribers move to the new prices on a later bill; before the increase, the ad plan was $11.99 and Premium was $18.99. If you also want Hulu, the Disney+, Hulu Bundle lists at a regular price of $12.99 a month.
For a one-time watch, a month of Disney+ with ads costs $7.50 less than the $19.99 digital purchase. Buying makes more sense if you want to keep the movie in your library without paying for a subscription.
