1. Columbo
Today we have shows like CSI and Law and Order, but they weren’t the first detective shows. In fact, they probably wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Columbo. Columbo set the stage for those mystery investigations.
Created by Richard Levinson and William Link, Columbo was about an LA homicide detective. The series ran for 9 seasons and starred Peter Falk, John Finnegan, and Mike Lally. Every episode of the series covered a different case that Columbo needed to look into and solve.
Columbo has been cited for being the capstone for many shows that followed after it.
2. The Dukes of Hazzard
Who doesn’t love a great action-comedy? For many TV watchers, you’d automatically recognize the iconic car from The Dukes of Hazzard as soon as you saw it. The Dukes of Hazzard was one of 70s family TV shows that stands out to many viewers.
With stars such as Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, and John Schneider, Dukes of Hazzard was about the escapades of two cousins who always seemed to find themselves in the middle of trouble. Bo and Luke always seemed to be running from corrupted police officers.
Jerry Rushing and Gy Waldron created this fast-paced adventure. The show ran from 1979 to 1985.
3. Happy Days
No 70s TV shows list is complete without mentioning Happy Days! Garry Marshall had a TV sitcom hit on his hands with Happy Days.
Happy Days revolved around a teenager growing up in the 1950s. The sitcom followed a quirky family and the friends that came along with them. The Cunninghams were the foundation of many TV families that we see today.
Who could ever forget that Happy days was also the reason we have the Fonz! Arthur Fonzarelli is one of the most well-known names in sitcom history.

These three 70s TV shows are only the beginning of great content to come out. Many of these 70s and 80s TV shows have heavy influences on the shows we currently watch today. These three will always be classics in our silver screen history.
